Autumn Revolution™ Bittersweet

Autumn Revolution™ Bittersweet

Bittersweet is ideal for fall decor, and this cultivar's extra-large berries make DIY a snap. In fact, you've probably seen bittersweet decorations—the picturesque wreaths popping with festive color. They're very easy to create too, simply twist the flexible vine around itself. The berries dry with the beautiful color intact and hold strong to the vine, so your wreath or dried arrangement won't fall apart through the season. Usually you'd need both a male and female bittersweet to get berries, but this variety has "perfect flowers"—no pollinator necessary. The berries can provide winter garden interest, unless backyard birds find it. The thick cover of the branches also provides shelter for birds in winter, and a place to build nests in summer. Give Autumnal Revolution™ some room, it does grow quickly and get large. However it's not the invasive oriental bittersweet, but a well-mannered native cultivar. You can expect all the best benefits of growing a native plant—it's drought tolerant, attracts beneficial pollinators and grows quickly. Celastrus scandens 'Bailumn' PP19811
