Girard Hot Shot Azalea

This azalea is truly deserving of its name, thanks to cayenne-orange flowers that grab the eye with shocking color. Girard Hot Shot produces flowers in bright reddish-orange with dark red splotches, sure to attract the attention of all who pass by—as well as spring season butterflies and hummingbirds. The foliage transitions to a dark, yellow-green in winter, providing winter interest. Like most azaleas, Hot Shot grows best in well-drained, acidic soils, and can handle a bit of tough weather. This azalea tolerates a good bit of sun in cooler zones, but we recommend keeping the leaves out of the sun in hot weather. Plant en masse for a sea of orange, or use as a focal point.
