Mt. Airy Fothergilla
These bottlebrush blooms are stunning when they're all lit up with sunshine. They appear in early spring with a scent like honey. They're followed by the most spectacular color–changing fall foliage—leaves that were steely blue in spring burst into orange and yellow hues. Great for spots with lots of water, it does not grow well in dry soil. Especially when its establishing, you should water it often to ensure soil is always moist. It takes a little work up front, but once established, it's very easy to grow. This native US cultivar was originally discovered in the Cincinnati area. Fothergilla 'Mount Airy'
