Northern Belle Hardy Fuchsia Crape Myrtle

Northern Belle Hardy Fuchsia Crape Myrtle

Hardy Fuchsia is one of our exclusive introductions from the Northern Belle series, bred by Dr. Keith Zary and the Gardens Alive! Research and Development Team. The Northern Belle series has unprecedented hardiness for a southern sun-lover like crape myrtle. It won't just pull through a cold winter, but it'll actually perform beautifully all the way up through zone 5 with a heavy winter mulch. It's even highly reliable for a rebloom in the colder zones, which is a real gamechanger with crape myrtle. In our zone 6 test garden, we didn't even give it winter protection and it bloomed, and rebloomed, in abundance. This variety has extraordinarily vivid color on the midsummer flowers--right about the time the summer cookouts are picking up steam and many blooming plants are waning. In warmer zones it can grow taller, we've seen it up to 5' in California, and in cool zones it'll die back to the ground in winter and grow to around 3' tall.
